The Blue Wave Taekwondo Association practices the Olympic recognized sport of Taekwondo, led by the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF), with Kukkiwon certified instructors and black belts. There are twelve Blue Wave gyms spanning Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine.
Taekwondo is a Korean based martial art and Olympic sanctioned sport since 2000. Practitioners learn kicking, punching and blocking techniques which are applied to forms, self defense, sparring and breaking.
A typical Taekwondo class is a full body workout, consisting of stretching, calisthenics, aerobic and anaerobic exercising. Workouts vary from basic techniques and paddle kicking to sparring and board breaking.
Taekwondo is an activity in which anyone can participate. Each Blue Wave Association dojang operates under the underlying goal that Taekwondo is a vehicle to help build confidence, courage, discipline, respect and sportsmanship.
