Did you know that Lyme disease is a real and active threat to dogs in Vermont? Did you know that Lyme disease is transmitted to the dog when it is bitten by a Deer Tick? Current veterinary research suggests that Lyme cannot be cleared from a dog's system once present. We strongly recommend vaccinating all dogs against Lyme disease and using a safe product to kill ticks before they can transmit the Lyme organsim to the pet. Antibodies generated by the vaccination of the dog actually bind to the Lyme organism in the hindgut of the tick and do not allow the tick to move the Lyme organism up to its mouthparts for injection into the dog. Remember that ticks are out whenever the temperature is above 32 degrees, and they lie in wait on bushes and grasses to attach to passing people and animals.
