A city cathedral - an outward, activist community of Christian faith.

Our Mission - St. Paul's Cathedral will be an outward, activist community of Christian faith, a sign of God's breathtaking generosity. This Cathedral will be a place of sanctuary, healing, inclusion, challenge and compassion. We will be a soul-inspiring, mind-stretching, heart-healing center of unconditional surrender to the freedom of God, a place of courageous hope and extravagant hospitality.

Be sure to check the service schedule between Advent and Epiphany as there are a few Sundays when there will be only one service instead of the usual three.

Evening Prayer in the style of the Community of Taize is held periodically throughout the year.
Long-Range Planning UpdateThe Charting our Path Together committee is very grateful for the wonderful offerings of the congregation during our November 14 community event. We hope everyone will take a few minutes to wander around the nave reading the ideas that were generated during the serivce and the brunch discussions that followed. The next opportunities for everyone to reflect on the future of St. Paul's will come at two open forums - one on December 5, the next on December 12, both taking place between the 9 and 11 services (approximately 10:00-10:45). Having had some time to consider the responses that were offered on the 14th, the committee has decided to focus these two forums on two prominent issues:
- On December 5, the focus will be on worship and liturgy, and specifically the tension we note in the responses between people wanting to be all together as a community on Sunday mornings vs. people wanting different services that can provide different things. - On December 12, the focus will be outward facing, specifically on the tension between focusing as a congregation on a single social justice ministry and allowing many different groups to develop their own ministries.

Everyone is invited to attend these forums; we hope to see many of you there!

Church School Project to benefit the Committee on Temporary Shelter. In lieu of the annual fall bulb planting, the church school decided to embark on a project benefitting COTS families. In mid-October, Becky Holt, Director of Development and Communications at COTS, visited the church school and led a wonderful presentation and discussion about the COTS organization and their mission. During November, the church school has been collecting items and donations for the COTS Welcome Care Basket Project. This project gathers items for families moving out of transitional housing to more permanent living situations. Items range from cleaning supplies to sheets and towel sets; lists of the needed items are located around the church building. November 30 is the deadline for collections. If you would like to donate or find out more about this project, please ask a church school teacher or contact Jen DeBedout.

A Pastoral Letter from the House of Bishops (9/21/2010) can be found in the document library at right, together with a Theologial Resource document.

Sermons are available on the About St. Paul's page.
