These have been out of stock in the USA all year and it has been hard to get info on them from Norco, the Canadian supplier of these things. Well, we have a few of them on the way at last and they should be here by the second week of June. Call us for the current pricing.
What's in these days?
We always have a few items that everyone asks about, but nobody actually buys. Single-speeds are currently in this category. We have a nice, budget priced one from SE Racing that turns a lot of heads, but we've only sold a couple of them. The obvious reason: Vermont hills. Similarly, when we had electrically assisted bikes in the window hardly a day went by without somebody inquiring about them, but the price and battery technology are still a step behind Vermont budgets and hills. That will change someday.
Right now (and for the last year or so) the thing people actually get is (drum roll) TOURING BIKES. This makes us happy because we have always loved them and felt they are the one bike that does it all for a big segment of the population. We have been really happy with the very old-school Fuji Touring for five or six years now and it is still one of the only real touring bike choices priced comfortably under $1000.
For 2010 we are stocking the Surly Long Haul Trucker as a slightly different option.
Bike maps from Windham Regional Commission
You can now go to our regional planning commission's web site and download some very special maps—bicycle suitability maps, to be exact. These are maps showing hills, shoulders, traffic volumes, and road surfaces as they matter to cyclists.
parking in Brattleboro-really!
Please note that the town bus stop has been moved to be directly in front of the River Garden building to provide better shelter. There is no longer parking directly in front of our Paramount building. For your convenience, the former bus stop in front of Candle In The Night is now an all-day loading zone where you can stop to load and unload your bikes.
Probably the best parking tip in downtown Brattleboro these days is the Harris lot behind the Gibson-Aiken Center. We usually park here and more often than not there are 6-10 long-term spaces open.
Southern Vermont's oldest continuously operating bike business
Brattleboro Bicycle Shop is a year-round, professional sales and service store right in the middle of Vermont's coolest downtown. We sell and service most types of bikes and support bikes as transportation in southern Vermont.
Our mission is to provide the highest level of person-to-person service for anyone who loves to ride bikes, especially those who prefer them to cars. We depend on cars, too, but Brattleboro Bicycle Shop believes the world will be a better place if the pendulum swings away from cars and back towards people.

We are bike commuters and have been setting up commuter bikes for people since before we came to Brattleboro 25 years ago.
Brattleboro Bicycle Shop stocks front and rear racks and all manner of bags and baskets to go on them. We carry fenders and lights and little clips and hardware to adapt all this stuff to whatever your bike requires. We've been known to fabricate brackets to make unusual things work.
Take a look at our Other Stuff section to see some of the bike bags we carry, or stop by the shop to browse through our counter catalogs of things we can get for you.
We like to let our thoughts linger on some of the bikes that pass through the shop. Read about this and other projects in our Repairs & Service Bike Gallery.
